- Tracking a Team’s Academic Progress Rate
University of Colorado FAR Dave Clough has developed an impressive set of spreadsheets to assist 1A FARs in tracking a team’s academic progress. During the 1A FAR annual meeting September 28 in Dallas, Dave discussed his system during a presentation he titled, “APR and Recruiting – Working with Coaches to Connect the Dots.” You can access the presentation by clicking here.
The system will allow FARs and coaches to track a team’s academic progress; calibrate a recruiting class; make APR projections; see the impact APR has on a recruiting class; and assist FARs to work with coaches to “connect the dots.”
The APR spreadsheet tracking documents can be accessed easily by clicking on the following links:

Our mission
The mission of the 1A Faculty Athletics Representatives is to advocate for effective interaction and academic and fiscal balance between an institution's academic mission and its intercollegiate program.
Our purpose
The purpose of the 1A Faculty Athletics Representatives is to address issues unique to Division 1A institutions, which requires a careful balancing of academic versus athletics interests, of student-athlete welfare versus competitive success and of cost containment versus additional revenue generation.
About FARs
The faculty athletics representative is a designation created and mandated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). FARs must be members of an institution's faculty and may not hold an administrative or coaching position in the athletics department. Duties vary by institution, but typically an FAR serves as a liaison to the athletics department. The 1A FAR is an advocate for the appropriate balance and effective interaction between an institution's academic mission and its intercollegiate athletics program.
All FARs who serve at NCAA Division 1A institutions are members of 1A FAR.
