Jack Evans

1A FAR Exemplary Service Award

RESOLUTION of the 1A FACULTY ATHLETICS REPRESENTATIVES (1A FAR) in Annual Meeting Convened, September 27, 2010 Whereas:

Jack Evans has been the faculty athletics representative (FAR) at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill for 15 years and, in that capacity, has represented his university and conference admirably in NCAA governance,

and Jack Evans has at all times demonstrated the best attributes of a member of the faculty in that he is thoughtful, analytical, objective,

and articulate, thinks critically, listens actively, and seeks empirical support for decisions,

and Jack Evans has acted with great good judgment, grace, style,

and aplomb in representing the faculty and campus voice on, among others, the NCAA Division I Management Council, Committee on Academic Performance, and Basketball Academic Enhancement Group,

and Jack Evans has been a vocal and strong advocate for academic reform in collegiate athletics,

and Jack Evans has advocated ably and forcefully for the integration of athletics and academics, on campus and in conference and NCAA governance,

and Jack Evans has worked ceaselessly and admirably to advance the position and effectiveness of FARs, particularly those in NCAA Division I FBS,

and Jack Evans has worked ceaselessly and admirably to advance the position and effectiveness of the 1A FAR.

Therefore, in recognition and appreciation of the aforementioned as well as his body of work as FAR and to the 1A FAR, be it resolved that:
It is right, fitting, and appropriate that Jack Evans be the first recipient of the 1A FAR Exemplary Service Award and that he be declared the prototype FAR.
